Apex Legends just dropped their final season 4 trailer before the launch tomorrow. It was packed with information, as well as linking to a page on the Apex Legends website detailing the map updates. Here’s what we know:
In the trailer, we get a more in-depth look at Revenant and his abilities. It appears as if he can plant a structure, changing his teammates and himself into shadow versions of Revenant. He can also climb up walls and toss a shadowy grenade-like projectile.
We will find out tomorrow exactly what his abilities are, and how players intend to utilize him in the arena.
The most apparent change players will immediately notice is the Planet Harvester. Hammond Robotics is harvesting precious metals from the planet for some unknown reason. The hulking Harvester serves several other purposes for players.
First, the giant red beam emitting from it can be seen by players throughout the map, giving a better sense of direction. Second, the multi-level Harvester’s center is accessed primarily by long hallways. This allows for better protection against 3rd parties.
Getting “3rd partied” is when you and your team are engaged in combat with another team, and a 3rd team comes in to clean up whoever’s left alive. This has been a common issue for Apex Legends throughout season 3.
World’s Edge Split In Two
The fissure created by the Planet Harvester has split Capitol City in two. This was the hottest drop zone from season 3, and the developers are looking to make it more approachable to the masses. The city is now divided into two zones, Fragment East and Fragment West.
There are only two points across the fissure, a zipline or a fallen bride. This will make Pathfinder’s zipline and Octane’s jump pad more viable to teams looking to control Capitol City. The division will also allow players to focus on controlling their side of the fissure and worry less about 3rd parties swooping in from across the city.
For those who may be intimidated by the fissure, the developers will not kill you should you fall in. Your character will take 25 damage and float up and across to the other side of the fissure. However, if you plan to utilize this, you’re an easy target for any sniper that may be watching.
A new location is added to World’s Edge: Survey Camp. This new location will provide relief for players moving between Epicenter and Skyhook. It also houses season 4’s final update: weapon racks.
These will be familiar to players who have utilized the training grounds. They are guaranteed weapon drops only located at the new Survey Camp. Players who would prioritize a good weapon right off the bat over armor or other loot will find this location enticing.
Apex Legends season 4 releases tomorrow, February 4th, on Apex Legends’ one-year anniversary. A new battlepass will drop alongside the update, giving players more premium skins, emotes, and animations to strive for throughout the new season.
