The offseason was a lot of work for Brooks Koepka, the number 1 player in the world golf ranking.
Koepka, who returns to competition this week in the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, spent the majority of his short offseason recovering from stem cell treatment on his left knee.
“My knee was bugging me from about March on,” Koepka said (h/t ESPN). Koepka said that the last four months were a “struggle”.
While Koepka never discussed his injury during the season, he said that his knee made it difficult to walk down hills and the ailment kept him from practicing.
Despite all of his accomplishments, Koepka still would rather win tournaments as opposed to awards.
“I don’t play for awards,” Koepka said. “I play to win tournaments.”
“LeBron has won only four MVPs,” Koepka said. “I’m pretty sure he’s been the best player.”
