Phoenix Mercury legend Diana Taurasi experienced fan backlash over her recent comments regarding Indiana Fever rookie, #1 overall draft pick, and legendary college basketball phenom Caitlin Clark and is now responding to some of the criticism.
Taurasi, 41, says that she didn’t mean anything bad with her comments regarding Clark, according to AZ Central Sports’ Dana Scott.
Clark also spoke about the comments saying that she doesn’t have any ill will towards Taurasi, chalking the comments up as “competition”, during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show on ESPN.
Clark even mentioned that she “idolized” the modern legends growing up and gave her respect to the WNBA icons.
Taurasi said on Monday that “wherever she (Clark) goes, greatness will follow, as she’s proven.”
Indiana and Phoenix will face off on June 30th and will see Clark and Taurasi take the floor for the very first time as competitors.
