Pat McAfee Signs Multi-Million Dollar Deal with ESPN

Pat McAfee will be taking his talents to ESPN, after the host of one of the most popular sports talk podcasts in the industry agreed to a new deal with ESPN that will earn him “more than eight figures per year”, according to the New York Post.

McAfee, 36, will leave FanDuel, where he working on a four-year, $120 million deal, and was in the second year of the contract.

The amount that McAfee will earn was not made public at the time of this writing, and it’s interesting to see a deal of this magnitude go down as Disney is currently in the midst of layoffs that would eliminate around 7,000 jobs including some at ESPN.

McAfee is already a regular on ESPN’s “College GameDay” and does college football alt-broadcasts with Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions for ESPN, but it’s his YouTube show that built his popularity, particularly due to it’s uncensored nature.

ESPN and McAfee said that all three hours of his show will remain on YouTube and will also appear on ESPN and ESPN+, and just goes to show that sports content creators are making big impacts in the sports media realm.

McAfee is expected to bring his team, which includes former Green Bay Packers All-Pro linebacker A.J. Hawk, among others with him as ESPN attempts to appeal to the younger generation, mostly consuming YouTube content.
