Twitter Updates Paid Partnerships Policy for More Transparency

Twitter has updated their Paid Partnerships Policy in an effort to ensure transparency in paid promotions within tweets as concerns continue to mount regarding deals related to influencers, such as Twitter influencers, and security.

According to the company: “In addition to abiding by the Twitter Rules, users, including creators and brands, that participate in Paid Partnerships are responsible for complying with all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, all advertising laws and, where applicable, FTC regulations including the FTC’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”

Twitter warns that failure to do so may result in “enforcement actions”.

Twitter also says that #paidpartnership and #sponsored are acceptable disclosure tags.
