Tyson Fury is gearing up for his upcoming fight against Oleksandr Usyk and says that he even considered delaying the first fight after he suffered a cut during a sparring session back in February stating that training for his rematch has been “easier” with the cut behind him.
Fury and Usyk were originally set to fight on February 17th before Fury suffered a cut above his right eye in training camp which forced the fight to be moved to May 18th which saw Usyk walk away with a split decision victory.
Now Fury is focused on turning the tables during the rematch, while reflecting on his decision not to delay the match initially.
“Thinking sensible, maybe I would have pushed it back a little bit and cost myself $10 million, but it doesn’t really matter because we’re here now and I’m going to do the job on Saturday night,” Fury said, according to ESPN.
“This time it’s been a lot easier,” Fury said.
“I’ve done lots of sparring and I’ve been able to train properly, whereas before it’s no secret that I didn’t do a lot of sparring, hence I had a massive bounty on my cut eye.”
