Rafael Nadal dominated Dominic Thiem to win his record-extending 11th French Open championship at Roland Garros.
Nadal ousted Thiem in the final, 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 on Sunday, fighting through a left middle finger injury that forced him to stop serving during a game because he couldn’t straighten his finger.
Nadal was given a salt pill by a doctor and a trainer massaged his left forearm so that he could continue playing.
Nadal’s win was his 17th Grand Slam title, second to Roger Federer’s 20, among men, and allowed Nadal to maintain his #1 ranking.
